First In Math

Tyshira Murphy, 6th Grader at Kenderton Elementary School won 1st Place throughout the entire School and 6th grade. Her class ranked top in North Region.

In addition to its regular clubs, Club Den provides daily homework assistance and supplemental tutoring. Abstinence from high risk behaviors is offered through the Discovering Dignity curriculum©. Along with a host of other exciting activities, every Friday youth have the opportunity to meet professionals from various fields to learn about their careers, education, and organizations. Students also attend field trips and college tours.

Club Den is up and coming!

It’s programs and efforts are a major benefit to the Nicetown-Tioga community of North Philadelphia. This year, Public Health Management Corporation recognized Club Den for its emphasis on increased physical activity through its dance and movement club. The program was also featured on 107.9 WRNB radio station with DJ Lady B to highlight its work in the community and maintenance of a safe environment for youth. Club Den is a great example of the importance of after school programs. Youth are not attending to just socialize. They want to be active and involved in furthering their education and improving the quality of life in their communities. Club Den uses Project Based Learning (PBL), as an educational method that helps youth to formulate and implement their own ideas. This method allows youth to assume leadership roles. It also encourages teamwork amongst them, and emphasizes the importance of each individual’s contribution in achieving a common goal.

Club Den is an after school program sponsored by To Our Children’s Future with Health, a non profit organization dedicated to improving the health and lives of Philadelphia youth. Located in North Philadelphia, Club Den services children from grades six to eight who attend neighboring middle schools. The overall goal of the program is to help inner city youth build the emotional, social, and academic skills that are essential to a productive life. As the program name suggests, Club Den offers various “clubs” that youth can choose to participate in, such as Arts and Crafts, Culinary, Dance and Movement, Music Production, Learning about Money, and Computer Technology. These clubs are structured around developing skills and exposing youth to different cultures and ideas relative to each of the club themes.
